Midnight Sun

This photo was taken exactly at midnight during a descent of Mt. McKinley in mid-June. The place was just below Windy Corner (13,500') and the sun had just dropped behind the West Buttress. It would eventually set in the North West around 2 A.M. The air was absolutey still, temperature near zero degrees F., allowing sounds to travel undisturbed over long distances. I could hear climbers talking several hundred yards away as if they were only a few feet away. Awesome!
